At last year’s LEGOPalooza, we gave out a slip of paper with some links about the LEGO hobby. I’ve finally gotten around to getting a copy scanned in for our website (just in time for our discussions about what to offer this year). It’s a reasonably good FAQ even if it isn’t exactly an exhaustive overview of the LEGO hobby.

We just got word from our coordinator for this year’s LEGOPalooza event that we will be on a different weekend than was previously announced:
Due to the recent snowstorm this past weekend, Morehead Planetarium was forced to reschedule a number of its events to accommodate the cancellation that they had to make last weekend. They offer their apologies for having to move the date of the show as they are very much looking forward to the event. As a result this changes the dates for Lego Palooza from 2/27 & 2/28 to two weeks further out at 3/13 & 3/14
This is our annual display at the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill, NC. It will now be held on the weekend of March 13th & 14th, 2010. The hours for Palooza are 11am – 4pm on Saturday, March 13th and 1pm – 4pm on Sunday, March 14th. We hope to see you there!

There will be a LEGO Convention held on Mother’s Day weekend (May 6th-9th, 2010) in NE Raleigh. This event is what came of the “BrickJournal Con” idea you may have heard tossed around at recent NCLUG events – as such, it’s a bit more than a standard Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOL) convention. Among the additions to the usual AFOL convention fare are a competition between FIRST LEGO League teams and a build event with Nathan Sawaya. The best source for information on this event is the official BrickMagic website.
This event is guaranteed fun for the whole family – and Moms get in free on Mother’s Day!
NCLUG will be represented by several displays, some of which will be fresh for this event and some of which will reprise previous ideas from LEGOPalooza 2010 and BrickFair 2009. Although this isn’t just our event (and we’re all excited about the breadth of this event and how it will appeal to a wider portion of the public), we’re looking forward to anchoring the displays as the regional LUG for the area.
