More Upcoming Events

While the best way to find out about new events is through the shared BrickJournal calendars, we have some tentatively planned NCLUG events coming up that aren’t on there or that you might not realize we’re a part of.

July 10-12th- The NMRA Show in Hartford, Connecticut will be the best LEGO train show around – the LEGO company is going to have a few people there, including Jamie Berard (designer of the new Emerald Night train set). More details are available from BrickJournal.

July 23-26th- ComicCon San Diego will be another surprising event outside the regular LEGO venues – after last year’s surprisingly strong showing of interest in both BrickJournal magazine and the LEGO video games, it’s been announced that both will be returning this year.

July 25th- Sat. NCLUG July Meeting. Will be hosted at a private residence, not open to the public.

Aug 21-23rd- BrickFair in Washington DC -This is our big regional fan convention, and increasingly the biggest NCLUG event. To put it bluntly, the vast majority of people who show up to NCLUG events are in the greater Raleigh area, with the people in the group from the rest of the state only occasionally joining in – but BrickFair is one thing that everyone is willing to travel to. This is a chance to see LEGO fans and creations from around the world – members of the larger online LEGO fan community make these conventions into big get-togethers. Attendees can bring their models to display, stay for the weekend, attend classes about LEGO, and have fun with various games and contests, but the public days – when a record number of people came to visit last year – are what really give us a chance to share the hobby.

Nov 13-15th- Festival Of The Masters in Downtown Disney, Orlando. This is a large festival featuring master artists and craftsmen in a large variety of fields. Our own Joe Meno is a regular there, but this is the main event for the Greater Florida LEGO Users Group. The LEGO Imagination Center is part of this event and has been able to coordinate some big things for this in the past – notably, the 2009 Pirates line was unveiled during last year’s Festival of the Masters.

About Dan

Dan is an AFOL previously living in Cary, North Carolina. He is a life-long LEGO fan, but has only fairly recently (2007 onwards) become active in the Adult Fan of LEGO community. He had previously lived in Londonderry, New Hampshire and Sammamish, Washington, and naturally managed to move out just as LEGO stores went into each area. He has not gotten back on his feet after moving out of NC suddenly due to personal concerns in early 2013.
