The North Carolina LEGO Users Group (NCLUG) is a fairly informal group. Essentially, we consider you a part of the group if you come to an NCLUG meeting or help prepare at an NCLUG event. All events open to the public are announced here on the official NCLUG website. We meet roughly once per month, generally somewhere in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Our “internal” communications are done on a Yahoo! Group – if you want to make sure you know about all of our meetings (not all of them are announced on the website – periodically we will have a dinner meeting or a meeting at a private residence), you should join the Yahoo! Group. You can find our Yahoo! Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nclug/
The North Carolina LEGO Train Club (NCLTC) behaves in largely the same way, but does not currently hold regular meetings. Because most of the Train fans have also been active in other LEGO themes, there has not been much interest in separate regular meetings. There is, however, a separate website and Yahoo! Group for NCLTC. You may be interested in joining that Yahoo! Group as well – occasionally, the NCLTC list will be used to plan larger Town and Train layouts for NCLUG events. The NCLTC does not currently do events apart from NCLUG.
We do ask that you coordinate with us through these Yahoo! Groups before bringing your own LEGO models to an NCLUG display – but if you’d like to participate, feel free to join in by stopping by our meetings and joining one or both of the Yahoo! Groups above!
A brief note concerning children: We are happy to let children join in (and have been thrilled by some contributions to our layouts by younger members), but we ask that unattended children not drop in at our meetings. We’re happy to have children and families as members of the club, and there is no minimum age for joining NCLUG.
