NCLUG Meeting, Sat April 24th

Our monthly meeting for April will be Saturday, April 24th, 2010, from 1:30 to 4:30pm, in Room 202-A of the Cameron Village Library in Raleigh. Bring your MOCs! Bring something you’re making for Brick Magic… See you there!

Also that weekend (on Sunday) is Maker Faire NC. While there will not be a group display at this event, I (Dan) will be representing NCLUG with a variety of smaller LEGO projects. Since the tone of that event is more geared towards a DIY/crafter/hacker crowd, it will be very different than a normal NCLUG event but still a lot of fun.

More LEGOPalooza Photos

More Palooza photos are online now. This might not be a complete list, but this should give you a good idea of what most of the displays were like (and it seems to be all the photos I knew about).

LEGOPalooza 2010 coverage, round 1

We seem to be moving a bit more slowly on posting our photos this year, but here’s a round-up of what we’ve seen so far:

The Daily Tar Heel: Chapel Hill LEGO event draws enthusiasts, elaborate models

bcde51786’s flickr photos

There are more to come – I know of at least four NCLUG members who have not posted photos or have had trouble grouping photos together to share.

LEGOPalooza 2010 is this Weekend!

LEGOPalooza 2010 is this weekend – tomorrow (Saturday, March 13th) from 11 AM to 4 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 4 PM. Although there are some returning displays, a surprising amount of what’s there to see this year is new. We hope to see you there!

AFOL – A Blocumentary

Although there have been many LEGO-related films put out, very few really offer a fair overview of the LEGO hobby. This particularly one really impressed our group. For those of you who have looked at NCLUG (or other LEGO Users Groups) and wondered “what do they do?”, this is the clip to watch. The “blocumentary” is about half an hour long. If the clip is loading slowly for you, I recommend turning off the “HD” feature.
