Well, there might have been a lot of activity in Chicago with BrickWorld, but we had an AWESOME time at Maker Faire NC!! Read about it on the Make blog.  The Make magazine mega-panorama caught us in the left corner (I circled in red our NCLUG banner that I made).
Scott, Ian, Mark and I all took photos, so we’ll be uploading those soon. We had a terrific turnout. The LEGO Store from Crabtree mall gave us a case of catalogs and a boatload of July store calendars. They were all taken.
Continuing our new habit of having meetings on the second Saturday of every month, the next NCLUG meeting will be held on January 12th, from 12PM to 2PM at TechShop RDU.
TechShop is located off of Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh near the main†entrance to Umpstead Park. †The address is: 5905 Triangle Dr. Raleigh, NC 27617. When arriving, tell reception that you’re there for the NCLUG meeting and they will tell you where to go. †We’ll be wrapping up our display at Airlie Gardens and planning for a few upcoming events.†Don’t forget to bring some creations you’re working on!
Additionally, there will be a draft at this meeting. A draft is an opportunity to get large quantities of a few parts from a kit that usually comes with small quantities of a wide variety of parts. Everyone brings the same kit, which are then sorted by piece. Once the kits are sorted, each person participating takes turns grabbing lots (which contain a quantity of a given part). The kit we’ll be parting out is set 9463 The Werewolf. We will have a few extra copies available there, but it is highly recommended that you bring your own if you would like to participate in the draft.
Due to a scheduling conflict with the meeting space at TechShop, NCLUG will not be having a meeting on Saturday, November 10th. Please plan for our next regularly scheduled meeting on December 8th!
The Airlie Gardens display setup will be taking place over the November 10-11th and 17-18th weekends – please remember to contact Will Stroh if you have any MOCs that need to be transported so we can make arrangements.
If you’re going to be stopping by the NC ComicCon at the Durham Convention Center on November 17-18th, be sure to seek out NCLUG!
Members wishing to exhibit at NC ComicCon, please stop by the 10/27 meeting or contact Joe Meno for additional details.
Also coming up is our big yearly display at the Enchanted Airlie Gardens for the holiday season. †The show runs November 23rd through December 22nd with specific hours available on the Airlie Gardens website. †The LEGO display is amazing and there is so much these Gardens have to offer – this is definitely not an event to miss.
Airlie Gardens is accessible from I-40, US-17, and US 74/76 and is less than one mile from Wrightsville Beach! †The address is:†300 Airlie Road, Wilmington, NC 28403
Members wishing to assist with the Airlie Gardens display, please contact Will Stroh for additional details.
The next NCLUG meeting will be held on October 27th, 12PM – 2PM.
Please note we’re trying a new location for meetings – join us at the TechShop. †We will not be meeting at the†Cameron†Village Library this month.
