In previous years, LEGO has had a fairly small presence at our state fair. There hasn’t been an outlet for hobbyists, although kids’ creations have been entered for display in a number of categories (last year there was also an appearance from the official LEGO Experience Tour). Two of our members have handled judging those entries, and been surprised by the quality of some of the models. This year, they successfully lobbied for us to have a small display space of our own.
We will have a small city street scene (essentially a row of some of our best buildings) on display for the duration of the state fair. The state fair runs from October 14th through October 24th. Our layout will be near the kid’s creations on display in the Hobby and Handicrafts building. You can find more info on the North Carolina State Fair at http://www.ncstatefair.org/
Start planning now – our state’s only LEGO convention will be returning to the North Raleigh Hilton on May 5-8, 2011 (yes, Mother’s Day weekend again). Public days will be May 7th and May 8th. Stay tuned to the BrickMagic website for more information.
Our next meeting is at the Cameron Village Library, in Rm 202-A from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Saturday, September 18th, 2010. It should be a busy one – we’re currently revving up for no fewer than FOUR upcoming LEGO shows in North Carolina.
This time on a Saturday! We’ll be meeting at the Cameron Village Library, in Rm 202-A from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Saturday, September 18th, 2010. Bring what you’ve been working on!
